This is also my memory today, but tomorrow we continue with the old text!
I had breakfast and enjoyed the town, which is situated on a mountainous estuary so that the views from the bridges is amazing. I took public transport to outside the city and hitchhiked towards Spain. I only remember one drive, another older truck driver who was also surprisingly good in English. I guess Portuguese are good in English just like Nordics and Dutch are: the country is so small, that they have subtitles and thereby listen to English whenever watching some TV. Maybe they lack the appreciation of dubbing made into Brazilian Portuguese. I remember telling Pedro: “Good that you founded Brazil” and he said “Well, I’m not too sure …”.
I remember the landscape being rather dry and exotic, with donkeys on the roads. The cities I passed were small and impersonal. Salamanca was very beautiful. I found a hotel, and went out to drink and had a glass in a fancy bar. Made no friends and fell asleep.
Pictures from France and Porto here.
