Woke up and Argentina looked like it always does!
Comodoro Rivadavia

There was no English in Comodoro Rivadavia, but I had a longer conversation through Google Translate, and with tickets sold out, I realized that it was impossible for me to get to Santiago for New Years. Also my second choice, Puerto Montt in Southern Chile, to celebrate with the lovely basic income academic Jurgen De Wispelaere, was impossible. I could maybe come to Bariloche where I didn’t know a soul.

No wind. 60% of Argentine’s electricity comes from fossil sources.

So after looking around for various options, I settled for a hostel in Puerto Madryn, a kind of tourist city making for some English speakers to converse with. Went there, found the hostel, logged in, and asked about New Year’s party. Yes, they have it! Everyone cooks their food, brings their drinks and the party is on. Lovely! I went out shopping, and even had my beard shaven and hair cut. Once done, the hairdresser asked if I wanted to cut my groin hair as well. Is that normal in Argentina? I’ve never seen such a service in my life.

Anyway, New Year’s Eve is tomorrow!
